Asturias and Galacia Tour

Arrive at the tour base in Nava Asturias. Riders briefing and check-in to the hotel. Briefing session includes introduction to Spanish support staff, the details of the route we are to follow, tour group procedures and safety.

We head immediately south east, skirting into the western side of the Picos de Europa National Park via a new national park and then head across a remote coastal mountain range dropping down to the coast for lunch. We then head back to Nava via the apple producing valleys of central Asturias (Nava is the cider capital of Spain).

We head off south through a local national park and traversing the Cantabrican mountain range via a pass taking us up to a ski station at 1600m. We then head east into the south east corner of the Picos de Europa National Park for lunch. We then ride down through deep valleys back to Nava.

Today we head off through central Asturias and cross the Cantabrican mountains over a 1500 metre pass. We head for our nights accommodation in a country hotel across the plains of Castilla y Leon.

We circle back into western Asturias via a national park and more mountain passes, before heading for our mountain hotel.

Riding through high hills we ride along the Asturias-Galicia border in the morning and head north to the remote coastline of the western Asturian border.

We follow the rugged Galician coastline, visiting viewpoints at the extremity of the Iberian peninsula and stopping at old fishing ports. We finish up at a Galician country hotel for the night.

We skirt around the outside of La Coruña and head into the Rias Baixas area, with its remote beaches and fjord-like estuaries. We finish the day at a country hotel where we are ideally based for a visit to Santiago de Compostela, the famous city at the end of the pilgrims route.

Today we visit Santiago de Compostela. This is a unique medieval town which even today welcomes thousands of pilgrims each year (many having walked from France on the pilgrims’ trail). Depending on the tour we may ride or take a taxi into the city. Please enquire when booking.

Taking the south west section of our figure of 8 route we head east across a landscape full of deep lakes and high hills. We are heading to our mountain hotel just over the border in western Asturias.

Today is the last day’s riding. We continue heading east through a mountainous national park before dropping into our last night’s hotel which is set in a deep green valley. The hotel is an hour and a half’s ride from the Santander ferry terminal. |
