Mountain and coastal Tour Asturias
1
Arrive at the tour base in Nava Asturias. Riders’ briefing and check-in to the hotel. Briefing session includes introduction to Spanish support staff, the details of the route we are to follow, tour group procedures and safety. |

Riding east from Nava, we ride up to 1200m in one of the local national parks and head into the north west edge of the Picos de Europa National Park. We then traverse a coastal mountain range before dropping on to the Asturias coast line for lunch. After lunch we head back across to Nava through rolling hills and apple orchards. (Nava is the cider capital of Spain with over twenty producers based in or around the town, and has a fabulous interactive cider museum for those interested). |

We ride south and traverse the Cantabrican mountain range via mountain passes at 1500m. We then drop down into the south east corner of the Picos de Europa National Park for lunch before heading back to the tour base. |

We leave Nava to tour for three nights away from base. We cross the mountains and drop into the Castilla y Leon region. We ride across deserted mountain terrain heading for our overnight accommodation in an exquisite hotel that used to be a monastery. |

We leave the monastery and head west across the high (1000m) plains of Castilla y Leon before traversing back across the Cantabrican mountains via a 1600m pass (next to a ski station). We drop down into western Asturias and check-in to a small, mountain hotel, our base for the next two nights. |
6
We are now in the extreme west of Asturias on the border of Galicia. Today we ride through very remote, hilly terrain with deep, turquoise blue lakes. |

The final day. We head east back to the tour base in Nava via two national parks, maybe stopping on the way to see some of the local bear population in a reserve. We end up at your final hotel, a country house hotel in a beautiful green valley. Santander is an hour and a half’s ride away for the ferry the next day. |
